Several companies have already managed to stand out from the pack and make a name for themselves. We happened to see a few of these companies at the 2018 Global Pet Expo in Florida and learned about the products and their effectiveness right from the source. If you’re considering trying CBD oils for dogs or hemp dog treats, I strongly recommend starting with the following companies, each of which provide unique products.
Yes! I’ve seen SO much about CBD oil recently, but I’m hesitant to try it since it seems like a fad. I also feel like some are definitely better quality than others. The ones I’ve seen haven’t been as expensive, but I never really thought about dosage etc. Thanks for your review, Kermit has a vet appointment coming up for his yearly check up, I’ll ask about CBD oil. He’s pretty good in general but sometimes gets too hype over certain things (though we’re working with a trainer too).
The use of cannabis-based medicine will continue to develop, and what people need now is assurance that the effects of the cannabis products will not harm their beloved pets. There is much misinformation in the public sphere, and the most important thing is to get everyone to understand the promising medicinal benefits that CBD can provide to pets. Cannabis is not going away anytime soon, and pet owners should consider all sides of the issue when thinking about giving CBD products to the furry friend in their life.

All available evidence indicates that long-term use of Hemp Treats causes no long-term side effects. However, Hemp CBD has only truly been available for pets for the last few years, so there is of course still time to find an issue. However, phytocannabinoids work naturally in the body because they act like self-created cannabinoids — they can increase their concentrations, as well as attach to the same receptors.
Our Edibites are infused with our full spectrum certified USDA organic CBD hemp oil which is extracted from our proprietary strain of hemp, PR-33. PR-33 is grown at our joint-venture certified USDA organic hemp farm in eastern Colorado and was selected because it’s cannabinoid profile was the most optimal for pets. In order for CBD products to be as beneficial as possible, every cannabinoid naturally found in the hemp plant must be present, THC included. This is because all of the cannabinoids in the hemp plant work together in what is called the “entourage effect,” this is why Pet Releaf never uses CBD isolate, CBD alone loses the majority if it’s medicinal benefits. The PR-33 strain is extremely high in the beneficial cannabinoid CBD and extremely low in THC at an almost undetectable level of 0.1%. PR-33 is a proprietary strain and will only ever be found in Pet Releaf products. We extract our CBD hemp oil using a super critical CO2 method, meaning we only use pressurized air to remove the CBD from the plant and never any toxic solvents or chemicals. Our CBD hemp oil uses the flowers, leaves, and some seeds so that our products contain the full spectrum CBD that is extracted from the plant as well as the protein benefits of the seeds.
If you want to make sure it is safe for your dog to take 100% pure cbd for dog products, you should ask your product. Moreover, you should also follow the instructions on the label to make sure that your dog can take the right amount of dosage everyday. Even if you feel like your dog will need more dosage, you must not attempt to let them to take more. In case your dog is taking other supplements, try to consult it to your vet because it might affect their attitude and also their appetite.
The calming effects of CBD work very well with high-strung dogs who struggle with separation anxiety, depression, and noise phobias. Dogs who experience severe separation anxiety are often depressed or anxious when their guardians leave them alone and it may result in disruptive and destructive behaviors, such as drooling, urinating, barking, chewing on objects and pacing.
While it seems highly unlikely that CBD will be incorporated into complete pet diets anytime soon, if ever, given the FDA and AAFCO stances, that hasn’t stopped manufacturers of related products from trying. In March 2017, Naturally Splendid Enterprises, maker of HempOmega hemp seed oil, commissioned a study to show that its proprietary encapsulation process may protect the omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and vitamins in the oil during the pet food manufacturing process. If it ever (legally) makes it into formulations, that is.
Marijuana, of course, is only one product of cannabis. Sources vary on the exact number, but cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of among 60 to over 100 distinct chemical compounds — called cannabinoids as a group — that can be derived from the plant. Acting on receptors in the brain, cannabidiol has proven effective in alleviating symptoms of human nervous system disorders, from multiple sclerosis to epilepsy.
The company used to call them biscuits, but didn’t want them to be confused with regular ol’ dog treats because they contain 2mg of phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil (sourced directly from a Colorado Department of Agriculture provider) each. “These are not training treats. These are health products or supplements,” Polly Patterson, COO/CMO of HHPC, tells Leafly, adding that they were created in partnership with veterinarians. The green-lipped mussel ingredient is a unique and special touch—it is a rich source of glucosamine and chondroitin, which are popular supplements for aging dogs with aching joints and muscle pain.
