When it comes to CBD oil, cheaper is most certainly not always better because the production of quality CBD oil just isn’t cheap. CO2 extraction utilizes complex equipment and a high level of expertise as opposed to the cheaper and easier chemical extraction processes that can leave residue from toxic solvents like butane, propane, and ethanol in the CBD oil. While the CO2 extraction will generally lead to a higher price tag, it does insure quality, purity, and potency – especially when used to extract CBD oil from hemp that has been organically grown in the United States.
I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy ... the only thing they found that would work is lyrica. I picked up some CBD oil yesterday morning. I am prescribed to take 75 mg of lyrica 3x per day. I took one yesterday morning and have only used the CBD oil since. I bought the Koi brand, flavored, 250 MG. I used a full dropper yesterday late morning and a full dropper yesterday late afternoon. I used it once today (one full dropper) and I am amazingly pain free.
The NIH recognizes the need for additional research on the therapeutic effects of CBD and other cannabinoids, and supports ongoing efforts to reduce barriers to research in this area. NIH is currently supporting a number of studies on the therapeutic effects as well as the health risks of cannabinoids. These include studies of the therapeutic value of CBD for:
First, we need to make it clear that although cannabis and hemp might technically be the same species, they are very different plants to grow. Exclusively female cannabis plants are cultivated by ordinary decent home growers. Our prime directive is to harvest the most psychoactive flowers possible. Photoperiod strains will not bloom without 12 hours of darkness, while autoflowering varieties will begin to bloom around 30 days post-germination.

Extensive studies have demonstrated that many common illnesses are related to deficiencies or imbalances of specific fatty acids in the body. Symptoms are often related to a lack of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids and their derivatives, the postaglandins. Most people eating a healthful diet, one that includes a balanced ratio of essential fatty acids, also have healthy skin and a strong immune system. Yet some individuals may experience shortages in specific fatty acids or their metabolites due to dysfunctional enzyme systems or other inhibitions in their metabolic pathways caused by genetic, immune-system-related, or even environmental factors. It has been proven in several clinical studies that dietary supplementation with essential fatty acids or their metabolites (such as GLA) will often prevent or even cure these illnesses. Since hemp seed oil contains both essential fatty acids in a desirable balance while also providing two of the essential fatty acid metabolites, it is a good resource for the prevention and treatment of certain illnesses.

As more and more states legalize the use of marijuana, a product known as CBD oil has surged in popularity. A chemical compound found in the cannabis plant, CBD, or cannabidiol, is non-intoxicating and does not cause the noticeable euphoric effects associated with tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC, another marijuana compound). Products marketed as CBD oil may contain THC.
Hemp oil or Hemp Oil contains essential fatty acids, including docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), that are required for brain development. DHA is crucial to the health of the brain as well as the retina of the eye, particularly in the first year of life. Mothers who supplement with hemp oil during pregnancy may provide brain- and eye-protective benefits for the developing baby.
Hemp oil is typically sold in bottles that you can store in the fridge. But if you are simply looking to “eat” hemp oil for its nutritional benefits, some brands offer hemp oil in capsules. Capsules is advantageous in that they have a longer shelf life and they don’t have to be refrigerated, unlike regular hemp oil. You can simply take them daily like you would your vitamin pills. But if you would rather enjoy your daily hemp oil with your shakes or salad, getting a regular hemp oil bottle offers you more variety in ways to eating it.
I use this for my anxiety and for my arthritis. The topical works great for my chronic neck pain. The best way to go is to get your own raw, tested material and use it in whatever form you like. It’s quite easy to make your own extract. This has worked better for me, rather than relying on a purchased, untested product – where some seem to work and others are a waste. But even with those that work, of course the cost is ridiculous and not affordable, thanks to all these corporate-pleasing laws in place, not there for the people – don’t delude yourselves.
Anyways, now we’re about to get to the good stuff, specifically things that I figured health-minded readers like you would actually find helpful, such as hormone balancing, de-stressing, enhanced sleep, fat loss, etc. But if you want to simply stop reading now, and take a side-track to go peruse the more than 20,000 articles published in peer reviewed journals that show the medical efficacy of CBD for a variety of other conditions in addition to what I’ve listed here, then knock yourself out.

Cannabis has a rich history as a medicine for quelling seizures and convulsions going back thousands of years. In the mid-19th century, the U.S. Pharmacopeia listed cannabis tincture as a treatment for pediatric epilepsy, and subsequent scientific studies have documented the anticonvulsant effects of CBD, THC, and whole plant cannabis. CBD-dominant/low- THC cannabis strains and oil extracts can facilitate dramatic improvement in some children with intractable seizure disorders. Between 10-15 percent of severe childhood epileptics who are given CBD oil products experience a near complete cessation of seizures; most improve (with a decrease but not total elimination of seizures); and some children have worse seizures when they take CBD. Many parents of epileptic children have learned through trial and error that augmenting CBD-rich oil by adding some THC—or better yet, THCA, the unheated, non-psychoactive form of THC that’s present in raw cannabis flowers and leaves—helps with seizure control. The take-home message: Low-THC cannabis oil products don’t work for everyone. Patients of all ages need access to a wide spectrum of whole plant cannabis remedies, not just high CBD oil.

As a dorky kid, I spent many a Saturday at the Bloomington, Ind., public library, scouring Consumer Reports back issues for great deals. Now, as a (much) bigger kid, that's still my job! Identifying products and services, especially in healthcare, that are safe, effective, and affordable—and highlighting those that aren't—is my top concern. Got a tip? CBD vape oil is a very straightforward way to take CBD. Your usage will depend on which type of vape product you purchase. If you buy vape oil, you will need to fill a vaporizer with the oil. Otherwise, you can buy a vape kit that includes a disposable vape cartridge which simply screws into the vaporizer. This option completely curtails the hassle of maintaining a vaporizer pen. If you are using a re-usable vaporizer pen, keep in mind you will need to replace the tank and/or coil once in a while.

I have not read all 220+ comments, so perhaps this issue was raised, but I have read in multiple sources that hemp plants and marijuana plants are not the same. Various sites claim that this issue is confusing consumers and they state that (industrial) hemp plants tend to be low CBD and lack the full spectrum of cannabanoids, terpenes and other chemicals. They caution consumers to purchase only CBDs derived from female flowered marijuana plants if they want the full health benefits. They also state that CBDs in isolation do not work as well as when they are coupled with THC and other cannabinoids and terpenes. (Nature always knows best.) Your product is derived from industrial hemp plants according to BioCBD’s website. You have addressed the issue of the female flowers (thank you), but I am still very confused about this issue. Can you clarify? Thank you. P.S. I, personally, won’t be able to use your product because I am sadly allergic to turmeric, but I appreciate the information you have presented here. I will have to wait for another company to manufacture a water soluble product with a different carrier.
CBD was first discovered in the 1940s by Roger Adams, the former head of the chemistry department at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. In his research, Adams isolated CBD from hemp but couldn’t determine what exactly he’d found. In addition to CBD, Adams also synthesized analogs of THC and another cannabinoid, showing their relationship to CBD.
Interesting article on CBD. However, I must strenuously object to your assertion that cannabis, and let me be clear, specifically THC is not addictive. I suffer from severe addition to THC and I know many, many others that I’ve met through my treatment programs that are powerless to control their use of THC like I am. Please learn more about this your repeated claims to the contrary undermine the entire credibility of this page.
The patient continued to use cannabis oil for 65 days. The family changed strains of the oil repeatedly, and some were more effective in increasing appetite and alleviating pain than others. The author of the case report suggests that cannabis oil needs to be explored further because there is potential that cannabinoids might show selectivity when attacking cancer cells, thereby reducing the widespread cytotoxic effects of conventional chemotherapeutic agents. Sadly, the young girl with ALL passed away due to gastrointestinal bleeding and a bowel perforation.
For most people it takes about 60 grams (or about 60ml) of cannabis oil to kill most cancers. For the average person it will take about 90 days to ingest the full 60 gram treatment of cannabis oil. It is important to remember that the 60 gram/ml 90 day treatment protocol is just a recommendation and starting point.  It can take some people a longer time to finish their treatment.  (*DIRECTIONS for making cannabis oil*)
Unrefined hemp oil does not have a very long shelf life. The oil quickly goes rancid, unless it is stored in dark containers in a refrigerated environment. People who use unrefined hemp oil generally purchase it in small amounts so that it will not become rancid. The oil is also not suitable for cooking, because it has a very low smoking point. Refined hemp oil is much more shelf stable, although many of the benefits of it are not present after refining.

There is a tremendous difference between CBD from hemp vs the actual cannabis plant; not addressed the fact that you are discussing CBD from hemp in the beginning of the article is confusing to those who have not been able to do their own research yet. I’ve been trying different CBD products for 2 years now & at first read, I thought you were talking about cannabis.
Hello Ben, I’m from India. My apologies in advance for a long letter. I’ve found you article very informative and humorous also. While there are a few references to India, they are mostly of turmeric. Marijuana and Hemp recorded use in India is more than 6000 years old. You seem to have missed out on it though you do talk of Persia and early Christianity dating back to 2000 years.
I have great interest in CBD and appreciate all the information provided, but I have one basic question regarding the nano-particle comparison especially since Bio availability and the ‘potential dangers of crossing the BBB’ by some in a concern. Simply how can you refer to the CBD ad a nano particle when, for reference, a sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick. A strand of human DNA is 2.5 nanometers in diameter. There are 25,400,000 nanometers in one inch. A human hair is approximately 80,000- 100,000 nanometers wide. This said, anyone who does any basic search (or research) will find that Nanoparticles are particles between 1 and 100 nanometers in size. You can see my concern with your comparison to a human hair (1/100th the width) is not even close; A ‘large’ nano-particle (100nm) would still be 1/800th the width of the most ‘thin’ human hair. Could you please clarify for me? Thank you!
Cannabis therapeutics is personalized medicine. There is no single ratio or strain or product that’s right for everyone. Optimize your therapeutic use of cannabis by finding the proper combination of CBD and THC that works best for you. A person’s sensitivity to THC is a key factor in determining the appropriate ratio and dosage of CBD-rich medicine. Many people enjoy the cannabis high and can consume reasonable amounts of any cannabis product without feeling too high or dysphoric. Others find THC unpleasant. CBD can lessen or neutralize the intoxicating effects of THC. So a greater ratio of CBD-to-THC means less of a high. In some states with medical marijuana laws, cannabis oil concentrates and other products with varying ratios of CBD:THC are available so users can adjust or minimize psychoactive effects to suit their needs and sensitivities. Those who don’t like THC have the option of healing without the high by using a CBD-rich remedy with only a small amount of THC. But a low THC remedy, while not intoxicating, is not always the most effective treatment option. In essence, the goal is to administer consistent, measurable doses of a CBD-rich remedy that includes as much THC as a person is comfortable with.
Hemp seed oil comes from the seeds of the hemp plant. There are two different ways hemp seed oil can be processed: Unrefined, cold-pressed hemp seed oil – this oil is green in color with a nutty flavor. Cold pressed hemp oil preserves hemp’s nutritious content, so it is often called “Nature’s most perfectly balanced oil”. It has a limited shelf life and should be stored in the refrigerator once opened.Refined hemp seed oil – this oil is clear and colorless. It doesn’t have much flavor and also lacks the natural vitamins and antioxidants that hemp is known for. Refined hemp oil is typically used as ingredients for body care products, fuel, lubricants, and even plastics.
