Inhaling cannabis oil has become a popular method of extraction. Both THC and CBD cannabis oils can be used by inhaling, but most people will only use THC based vape pens. The THC based oils will get you baked, but it will give you a different kind of high from your typical joint due to it being a purer form of THC. CBD-based vaping will help you to calm your nerves without incapacitating you for the next few hours. Vaping CBD is a great way for those who can’t get high to relax or help them with any number of medical conditions with the added benefit of getting to choose the flavor you want.
Time for true confessions, folks. It is February 9, 2017, and I have missed several months of comments for the simple reasons that things went a little crazy around here. I very much apologize. I am tackling them now for the sake of those faithful and new readers who might actually read them all. I am going to start with the most recent. Bear with me.
A cold shower can help you sober up reasonably quickly. If a shower isn’t available, wash your face and hands with cold water. If you’re at home, try taking a cold shower or soak in a herbal bath. This works because cold water triggers what’s called the “mammalian diving reflex,” which will cause an immediate decreased heart rate, as a means of survival.
Instead, CBD possesses a wide variety of medical applications. While research is ongoing, studies have already demonstrated that CBD is an effective treatment for epilepsy. But this cannabinoid is what’s known as a promiscuous molecule, meaning that it interacts with many different types of neuroreceptors. That suggests that current studies may just be scratching the surface of CBD’s therapeutic potential.
If you suffer from the constant anxiety during the night time hours, or suffer from insomnia or struggle from getting a restful, undisturbed sleep, then cannabis oil might be the solution for you. The cannabis oil works by relaxing the mind and body, and generating a lower energy level, it will be easier for you to get your heart rate down and clear your mind to allow for a long, restful sleep.
On September 4, 2003, on my husband’s birthday, I had surgery at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. I spent the next day, our 19th wedding anniversary in ICU. The pathology report came back an Oligodendroglioma grade 2. The surgery was an apparent success and neither radiation nor chemotherapy were recommended. However, since it’s unlikely every cancer cell can be detected and removed, and the nature of gliomas are to grow back over time, it was necessary to continue MRI monitoring every 3 months. Living from MRI to MRI had become our “normal”.

It is clear that CBD oil has a number of functions in pain relief and regulation. However, there are a few arguments that are worth considering. One is the use of CBD oil on children. Although proven to be a player in autism-symptom mitigation, the influence of CBD oil on the developing brain has yet to be deemed unintrusive. It is still not recommended that CBD be used extensively on children. The recommended dosage of CBD oil for children and adults, both, must be determined in consultation with a doctor.

Tinctures are produced by steeping cannabis flowers or isolates in a high-proof grain alcohol, then applying low heat for a significant span of time. This allows the active compounds in cannabis to infuse into the neutral spirit, much of which is then boiled off. The result is a potent liquid that delivers the effects of the cannabinoid molecules without any smoking or other form of combustion. In the growing consumer market, producers will often add carrier oils and other complementary ingredients, such as an orange oil to improve the taste of a tincture.

CBD has also been shown to have neuroprotective properties in cell cultures as well as in animal models of several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s,xii, xiii, xiv stroke,xv glutamate toxicity, xvi multiple sclerosis (MS),xvii Parkinson’s disease, xviii and neurodegeneration caused by alcohol abuse.xix Nabiximols (trade name Sativex), which contains THC and CBD in roughly equal proportions, has been approved throughout most of Europe and in a number of other countries for the treatment of spasticity associated with MS. It has not been approved in the United States, but clinical trials are ongoing, and two recent studies reported that nabiximols reduced the severity of spasticity in MS patients.xx,xxi There have been limited clinical trials to assess the potential efficacy of CBD for the other indications highlighted; however, a recent small double-blind trial in patients with Parkinson’s disease found the CBD improved quality-of-life scores.xxii

CBD has been touted for a wide variety of health issues, but the strongest scientific evidence is for its effectiveness in treating some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which typically don’t respond to antiseizure medications. In numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and in some cases it was able to stop them altogether. Videos of the effects of CBD on these children and their seizures are readily available on the Internet for viewing, and they are quite striking. Recently the FDA approved the first ever cannabis-derived medicine for these conditions, Epidiolex, which contains CBD.

Unfortunately due to the disappointing and down right inaccurate position of the federal government in classifying Cannabis as a schedule one drug, most research institutions risk federal funding if they conduct real research on Cannabis. This has dramatically limited the potential for real research by real scientists to be conducted. That research is critical to better understanding the multitude of therapeutic effects of the various chemical constituents found in Cannabis.

I have been a member around a year maybe less, but I just need to tell you how much I appreciate you all. I have 3 kids and husband and was crippled with my health problems and drugs from all the doctors, I had to take. I am so much better off today. I can now contribute to my family. I feel hope for the first time for a future with them. Thank you, God Bless You!
I almost cried when I listened to this podcast! I am 11 weeks pregnant (and sicker than my previous three pregnancies!), dealing with hormonal/seasonal depression, digestive issues, and worst of all, chronic debilitating myofascial pain in my back. I have so many similarities with Lane’s story, and while I’m sure many of our health problems are different, I too have been to doctor after doctor, naturopath, massage therapist, PT, chiropractor, etc, and no one seems to be able to give me an answer to my pain. I went from being a boot camp instructor, personal trainer, who took my kids hiking most days, to barely being able to walk a few blocks around my neighborhood. I’m so desperate for anything to help. I know the depression, though partly normal for me in February in MT, is being exacerbated by chronic pain, and the hopeless feeling that it will never go away. This podcast made me hopeful that perhaps there is something out there that may help. I ordered from SOL CBD just now. Thank you Katie for your great podcasts and blog, and thank you Lane for the wealth of information on CBD! God bless!:)
     9.  Support overall health. Eat it. You can eat it straight and enjoy its nutty flavor or you can put it in salad dressings, as a butter replacement on toast, rice, potatoes, vegetables…it’s delicious! Keep in mind that pure hemp seed oil cannot be used for high-heat cooking. It has a low smoke point and will totally break down even at a moderate heat, at which point all nutritional benefits are lost.
Hi, In your wonderful CBD overview above you state that the reason you started using CBD oil in the first place was to lower your cortisol levels. Did you succeed? If you are comfortable with doing so can you share the ‘before’ levels and the ‘after’ levels? Or maybe just the amount of the drop (average)..?? And, was this CBD product you now sell the one that you were using then?
As of 2018, you can purchase CBD derived from the marijuana plant legally in 46 states (and 3 territories) with a prescription for medicinal usage. The laws for each state is different, especially when it comes to how much THC can legally be present in the product. The four states where marijuana-derived CBD is completely illegal include Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Cannabis oils are extracts from cannabis plants. Unprocessed, they contain the same 100 or so active ingredients as the plants, but the balance of compounds depends on the specific plants the oil comes from. The two main active substances in cannabis plants are cannabidiol, or CBD, and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. Oil extracted from hemp plants can contain a lot of CBD, while oil from skunk plants will contain far more THC. THC produces the high that recreational cannabis users seek, while oils for medical use contain mostly CBD.
A report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published in the journal Pediatrics cautions pregnant women and nursing mothers to avoid marijuana use due to possible adverse developmental effects to their baby. In a study reviewed for the report, short-term exposure to CBD was found to increase the permeability of the placental barrier, potentially placing the fetus at risk from certain substances.
I found your article to be very informative. My son has refractory Epilepsy and Type 1 Diabetes. I am very interested in CBD but I am concerned about how it will interact with the 3 AED’s he is currently taking as well as how it will affect his blood glucose levels as he is on an insulin pump. Do you know of anyone with a similar combination of issues? How they have handled introducing CBD to their regime? And if they are seeing positive results?

For hemp-based CBD products, most folks have no problems with them getting into Canada. Canada that has specifically stated that they consider CBD whether it comes from hemp or medical marijuana to be a Scheduled II Drug, Class Scheduled II Drug, which means that it has reported medicinal benefits but they would like to control the regulation and the selling of those products. But I don't think they're regulating it too strictly.
Everything we’ve been discussing — the pharmacokinetics of cannabidiol — is a complicated subject that scientists are still actively piecing together. There are no established guidelines for the best way to use CBD to achieve your health goals. Prepare for a truly unique experience that deserves patient and loving experimentation. We wish you success on your journey!
It makes no sense to me that something that helps with anxiety has an irritability side effect – as a lot of my anxiety is co-mingled naturally with irritability. Further, I have noticed none of these side effects, given that if you become fatigued or sleepy, you adjust dose the next day. So I don’t call that a side effect – rather – an effect of taking too much.

Ehler Danlos has recently been found to be caused by hereditary alpha tryptasemia with mast cell activation. You are born with extra copies of the alpha tryptase gene. Tryptase levels can be lowered by lactoferrin found in the supplement colostrum. Also, supplement with luteolin which inactivates mast cells. The cells of connective tissue include fibroblasts, adipocytes, macrophages, mast cells and leucocytes. Histamine activates mast cells increasing inflammation which attacks connective tissue, so eat an anti-histamine diet which lowers inflammation. To lower histamine levels, eat only fresh foods- eggs, chicken, rice, gluten free pasta/crackers, cream cheese, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, non-citrus juices, milk, herbal teas (not coffee, black tea), fresh/frozen fish, fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables, especially prebiotics like onions, garlic, bananas, jicama, raw asparagus. No tomatoes, strawberries, vinegar, matured cheeses, pickled/canned foods, shellfish, salami and other cured meats, sausages, ham, bologna, etc. No beans, nuts chocolate, peanut butter, ready meals, deli food because its been sitting, energy drinks, as these are all high in histamines. The key to low histamine is fresh. Eat knox gelatin daily with vitamin C which strengthens connective tissue. Gelatin is high in the amino acids- glycine, proline and lysine which are needed for collagen production in connective tissue. No aspirin, alcohol, high sugar, fructose, or high carbs to heal leaky gut. In fact, inflammation throughout the body can be mediated by the gut bacteria, and loss of gut bacterial diversity can threaten the gut lining, so then that leakiness of the gut, or intestinal permeability, then mechanistically leads to inflammation. Bacteria from the gut leaks into the bloodstream causing inflammation. Then where does that inflammation go and what part of the body gets damaged from it? Connective tissue. Inflammation is the cornerstone of basically every degenerative condition you don’t want to get. Check your progesterone levels which should be normalized. Progesterone’s role in the health of the body’s connective tissue or collagen is well understood. As progesterone strengthens collagen and increases the turnover of cells, the skin becomes softer and stronger. 70% of the skin is collagen, as is 20% of the entire body- tendon, ligament, blood vessels, skin, cornea, cartilage, bone, blood, blood vessels, gut, intervertebral disc, brown and white adipose tissue. https://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/hereditary-alpha-tryptasemia-faq

Hi Lauren I've just started today with 250mg cbd oil. I'm starting low to see what happens. I've nerve damage across buttocks from a laminectomy. I've not been able to sit for 5 years. I've recently started with a muscle spasm in my left buttock and the muscle above is painful. It is only the first day, also tried a cbd night time tea as well. Do change in muscle pain so tight on my left hand side. How long before felt it starting to work please. I'm trying not to expect changes straightaway. I also take 1100mg gabapentin and 30mg amitriptyline and I hate both of them - they both can cause muscle tightness affecting the nerve. Thank you Lyn
