Topicals enter the skin and body tissues and allow for direct application and relief of affected areas for allergic skin reactions, muscle strain, inflammation, swelling, etc. Both THC and CBD have been found to provide pain relief and reduce inflammation – but do your research on your particular condition to find out what would work best for you – and, as always, experiment slowly.

Starting with larger doses would be good to help patients get off addictive and dangerous pain medications like Morphine or Vicodin.  When people using those type of medications start the cannabis oil treatment, they can a lot of times, cut their pain medications by as much as half. It might also be good to start with larger doses if the cancer is in the late stages.  Most importantly though you always want to make sure you stay within your "comfort zone" when taking the cannabis oil.  Everyone is different, some people can take more than others. So make sure that the dose you take is right for you.
When you have finished decarbing you will want to do a quick infusion into your oil. A great tip regarding reducing the infusion time is to only infuse for 15 minutes using a double boiler after decarbing, instead of the 3-4 prescribed hours from many cookbooks. Starting out with fully activated cannabis means you not only don’t have to do a long or high heat  infusion, but that you actually shouldn’t to retain all the potency.
Cannabidiol or CBD is a non-intoxicating component of the cannabis plant with enormous therapeutic potential. Although CBD doesn’t make people feel high like THC does, it’s causing quite a buzz among scientists, health professionals, and medical marijuana patients who are using CBD-rich products to treat a wide range of conditions—chronic pain, cancer, Crohn’s, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, PTSD, cardiovascular disease, anxiety, antibiotic-resistant infections, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, and more. Academic research centers in the United States and elsewhere are currently studying the effects of CBD on these and other ailments. Scientists refer to CBD as a “promiscuous” compound because it confers therapeutic benefits in many different ways while tapping into how we function physiologically and biologically on a deep level. Extensive preclinical research and some clinical studies have shown that CBD has strong anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, anti-depressant, anti-psychotic, anti-tumoral, and neuroprotective qualities. Cannabidiol can change gene expression and remove beta amyloid plaque, the hallmark of Alzheimer’s, from brain cells.
Interleukin-1β – levels significantly increased with experimental colitis. CBD was shown to decrease levels. IL-1β is shown to have potent pro-inflammatory activity and thus heightens the inflammatory response that leads to intestinal injury. IL-1β amplifies the production of inflammatory leukocytes (immune system cells), resulting in an increase of inflammation.

CBD in proper dosages gives nearly the same pain reduction compared to opioid prescription drugs, such as morphine, hydrocodone, and oxycodone, and when combined with these drugs, allows you to use far less of the actual prescription, thus reducing the toxic load on your liver and kidneys. And of course, as you already know, these benefits come without the proven addictive or unsafe nature of opioid drugs.
Hemp oil — obtained by pressing benefit-rich hemp seeds — is slightly different than cannabis oil, although they both come from the same genus, Cannabis, and the same species, Cannabis Sativa. The term hemp is used to describe a Cannabis Sativa plant that contains only trace amounts of THC. Hemp is a high-growing plant that’s commonly grown for industrial uses, such as oils and topical ointments, as well as fiber for clothing, construction, paper and more.
I have/had ovarian/primary peritoneal cancer. I used thc/cbd oil pills I self made from the start. I am supposedly their “poster child”. I went thru with chemo and surgery. Oh that horror! But when I tried to tell two seperate doctors, the surgeon was all about it, and my oncologist threw a fit and said it was an anecdote. There are more than 100 studies at the NIH govt website.

CBD is one of over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids. Until recently, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) was getting most of the attention because it’s the ingredient in cannabis that produces mind-altering effects in users. But CBD is also present in high concentrations — and the medical world is realizing that its list of medical benefits continues to grow.

If you’re overwhelmed by the wide variety of CBD products, you are not alone. Each method delivers CBD to your body in a different way, which affects what it can be used for and how often you’ll want to take it. Adding to that confusion is the fact that each of our bodies responds differently to CBD, meaning there is no one-size-fits-all recommendation. That’s why we’ve put together a guide to help you design a cannabinoid treatment plan that fits your individual health goals — whether you’re choosing your first CBD product, or just optimizing your current routine.

In addition to cannabinoids, other cannabis plant molecules are biologically active. A few other molecules known to have health effects are flavonoids and terpenes or terpenoids (the flavor and smell of the strain). Cannabinoids, terpenoids, and other compounds are secreted by the glandular trichomes found most densely on the floral leaves and flowers of female plants.
Cannabis oil has been shown to be an effective component to many a person’s health and wellness regime. It is one of the safest and most effective ways to consume cannabis and is gaining in popularity with monumental speed. Do you have experience on how to use marijuana oil that you’ve found to be particularly beneficial? What is your favorite way to use marijuana oil? We’d love to hear about it in the comments below!

Cannabis oil contains both THC and CBD in different ratios, depending on the plant variety. Research shows that cannabis oil has therapeutic value, as it works to improve sleep disorders, relieve anxiety, improve appetite, reduce pain, boost heart health and maybe even help to prevent cancer. But unlike CBD oil made from the hemp plant, cannabis oil is not legal across the United States. You can only purchase cannabis oil legally in certain states and each state has specific laws addressing how and when you can obtain cannabis oil.

-Are they third-party testing? Hemp is a bioaccumulator, meaning it pulls toxins from the soil. The hemp used for CBD oil should be grown organically, and tested to ensure it is clean of heavy metals and contamination. Companies should also provide test results confirming the mg per bottle/balm/etc. Because there are no regulations, no one is ensuring that products contain the advertised mg dose.
I am confused about how you say it can be beneficial for cancer and has anti-tumor effects, but then in the side effects, you say that since it can lower T and B cell activity it can worsen disease progression, tumor growth and mestastases. My mom has early stage multiple myeloma as well as some anxiety/depression and insomnia. Thought this would be good- but now confused whether it’s anti or pro cancer.
My Father passed away from Alzheimer’s. I wish I had known about this then. I said the whole time I wish I could talk “the retired fireman/veteran all around good guy” into smoking weed. I would have tried anything Alzheimer’s doesn’t play fair and nothing his Doctor prescribed ever helped or change symptoms for very long. He was anxious and regardless of what the dr’s said he was scared for two years until the very end when he given so much morphine he couldnt wake up anymore. TRY IT!
CBD oils may contain some THC. Cannabis may impair your ability to drive safely or operate equipment and may have short- and long-term effects on your memory, attention, mood, heart rate, and mental health. It is also easy to overconsume CBD oil, so it's important to start with a low dose, as it may take several hours or longer to begin to feel the effects after consumption.

There’s only one reason not to give your dog hemp oil and that’s if you’re feeding your dog a lot of chicken. Hemp oil with chicken is a bad combination because both are high in polyunsaturated fats. This can cause an imbalance in the fats in your dog’s diet. Instead, use flaxseed oil or whole oily fish like sardines or mackerel to round out the diet when you feed chicken.

I have taken CBD oil in the past, and am also a medical cannabis patient; however I have had some very bad interactions that I thought you might be able to help troubleshoot. I suffer from migraine, lower back pain, digestive issues and insomnia. Initially I saw great results in all aspects of my health when I began taking CBD and shortly thereafter augmented this with vaporized medical cannabis.

The truth is, we still don’t have nearly the amount of research needed to fully understand the effects of each and every cannabinoid on our system. With that said, if you have symptoms or conditions that CBD can help with, go with pure CBD oil. If you are suffering from something more general like chronic pain, a full-spectrum hemp oil could bring some additional benefits from the extra cannabinoids. Try hemp-based products as well as pure CBD products, and let us know what you experience!
When starting cannabis oil treatment the next steps that should be taken are a change in diet and a few lifestyle changes. Cancer cannot grow in an alkaline body that is highly oxygenated. You want to eat an alkaline rich diet by eating many greens everyday. Plant protein will fight the growth of cancer. Buy a juicer and start eating as many raw fruits and vegetables as possible. Eat little to no meat or dairy products because the proteins in them will promotes cancer growth.  You should stop eating sugars. Do not drink any soda at all. Replace the use of sugar with natural sweetener’s like raw honey.

It should also be noted that, because CBD oil is mostly unregulated, products may be incorrectly labeled. To that end, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2017 found that nearly 70 percent of all CBD products sold online are mislabeled and that a number of products contain a significant amount of THC. Since THC can aggravate anxiety and make your heart beat faster than normal, it’s possible that using CBD oil that contains THC might make your anxiety worse.

There are likely very complex relationships also occurring between various Cannabinoids in Cannabis that may lead to certain medical efficacy. That is important to remember when considering the consumption of products that contain Cannabinoids. There is an attractiveness to isolating a specific chemical, researching it, patenting synthetic derivatives, and marketing specific drugs. That said, the relationships are complex, will likely take years to understand, and many patients I’ve met appear to find the most medical benefit from a diverse group of Cannabinoids whose interactions are not particularly well understand, but the results are hard to argue with.
What about cannabis oil? Well, unlike both CBD oil and hemp oil, cannabis oil does contain THC and it is psychoactive. Cannabis oil comes from the Cannabis sativa plant that’s bred for its trichomes. These trichomes are tiny, hair-like crystals that cover the leaves and buds of the cannabis plant. Trichomes produce the hundreds of known cannabinoids that can be found in marijuana.

Taking a fish oil supplement can be a helpful way to increase omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, a nutrient that is essential for brain development, immune system health, and mood regulation. Expectant mothers certainly want to include these nutrients in their diet; however, fish contains a great deal of mercury which can hinder neurological and developmental mechanisms in the unborn baby. Fortunately, hemp oil works as a terrific alternative to traditional omega-3 fatty acid supplements and doesn’t carry the same risk of mercury ingestion.

Hello Ben, I’m from India. My apologies in advance for a long letter. I’ve found you article very informative and humorous also. While there are a few references to India, they are mostly of turmeric. Marijuana and Hemp recorded use in India is more than 6000 years old. You seem to have missed out on it though you do talk of Persia and early Christianity dating back to 2000 years.
For epilepsy: A prescription cannabidiol product (Epidiolex) has been used. The recommended starting dose is usually 2.5 mg/kg twice daily (5 mg/kg/day). After one week the dose can be increased to 5 mg/kg twice daily (10 mg/kg/day). If the person doesn't respond to this dose, the maximum recommended is 10 mg/kg twice daily (20 mg/kg/day). In some research, higher doses of up to 50 mg/kg daily have been used. There is no strong scientific evidence that nonprescription cannabidiol products are beneficial for epilepsy.

Hello- thank you for this informative article. I am very new to MM. I got my card two weeks ago to use it as a substitution for alcohol. I also have mild OCD and Tourette Syndrome plus I’m in perimenopause and suffer from dizziness and panic attacks. At first, I enjoyed an 8-1 CBD/THC tincture. But I felt diminishing returns in the calming effect so I went to 1-1. Then I stupidly added a THC tincture to the 1-1 and had a severe panic attack. Since then, even a 20-1 CBD/THC tincture makes me feel panicky. I fear that I cannot use MM and will go back to alcohol. There is one thing I haven’t tried and that is pure CBD. Goldmist has a CBD spray and I’m curious to try. From what I have said, do you recommend that I try CBD without the THC? The stress relief that I first felt was so helpful but it seems that I have become very THC sensitive.
Reality: Hemp oil is an increasingly popular product, used for an expanding variety of purposes. The washed hemp seed contains no THC at all. The tiny amounts of THC contained in industrial hemp are in the glands of the plant itself. Sometimes, in the manufacturing process, some THC- and CBD-containing resin sticks to the seed, resulting in traces of THC in the oil that is produced. The concentration of these cannabinoids in the oil is infinitesimal. No one can get high from using hemp oil.
Our Editor’s Pick is the tincture from CBDistillery. This tincture is available in five strengths ranging from 250mg to 5,000mg, which accommodates a wide range of THC preferences, as well as 15 and 30 milliliter containers. The tincture has a price-point that is slightly below average, making it a good option for value seekers. The tincture, which is non-flavored, routinely undergoes third-party testing to ensure safety and high quality; the testing results are available on CBDistillery’s product pages.
Research is beginning to show that CBD is different than other well-studied cannabinoids. All cannabinoids act as ligands, meaning they dock onto the binding site of a protein and have the ability to modulate a receptor’s behavior. CB1 receptors are widely distributed, but are particularly abundant in areas of the brain, including those concerned with movement, coordination, pain and sensory perception, emotion, memory, cognition, autonomic and endocrine functions.
Cons: It also could be challenging with tinctures to determine how much CBD you’re getting, either from the bottle dropper or from each spray, especially if the bottle shows only total CBD content and doesn’t list the per-dose amount. If needed, ask a retail salesperson for help or get out your calculator to calculate the amount of CBD per dose. The price per bottle could be more for a product with a higher CBD content per dose.

I am in Santiago, Chile and have bought Cannabis oil here. It is my first time to try it. I am awaiting shipment from U.S. of CBD oil products. I am using the oil to ally my rather constant low level anxiety that sometimes goes near panic as well as chronic sleeplessness. I have been dealing with this challenge for many years without resorting to standard “Harmapheuticals”. It is my hope the oils will calm me and bring me sleep. I have been trying these local oils for past four days without too much in the way of calming effects. I am taking around 30ml of the oil without real positive results. Do you suppose I may have to go to dosage over 100ml a day to get results? I realize you can not give medical advice nor am I asking for it–but if you can give me general directions it would be very helpful. Thanks, Jack in Chile.
Ehler Danlos has recently been found to be caused by hereditary alpha tryptasemia with mast cell activation. You are born with extra copies of the alpha tryptase gene. Tryptase levels can be lowered by lactoferrin found in the supplement colostrum. Also, supplement with luteolin which inactivates mast cells. The cells of connective tissue include fibroblasts, adipocytes, macrophages, mast cells and leucocytes. Histamine activates mast cells increasing inflammation which attacks connective tissue, so eat an anti-histamine diet which lowers inflammation. To lower histamine levels, eat only fresh foods- eggs, chicken, rice, gluten free pasta/crackers, cream cheese, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, non-citrus juices, milk, herbal teas (not coffee, black tea), fresh/frozen fish, fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables, especially prebiotics like onions, garlic, bananas, jicama, raw asparagus. No tomatoes, strawberries, vinegar, matured cheeses, pickled/canned foods, shellfish, salami and other cured meats, sausages, ham, bologna, etc. No beans, nuts chocolate, peanut butter, ready meals, deli food because its been sitting, energy drinks, as these are all high in histamines. The key to low histamine is fresh. Eat knox gelatin daily with vitamin C which strengthens connective tissue. Gelatin is high in the amino acids- glycine, proline and lysine which are needed for collagen production in connective tissue. No aspirin, alcohol, high sugar, fructose, or high carbs to heal leaky gut. In fact, inflammation throughout the body can be mediated by the gut bacteria, and loss of gut bacterial diversity can threaten the gut lining, so then that leakiness of the gut, or intestinal permeability, then mechanistically leads to inflammation. Bacteria from the gut leaks into the bloodstream causing inflammation. Then where does that inflammation go and what part of the body gets damaged from it? Connective tissue. Inflammation is the cornerstone of basically every degenerative condition you don’t want to get. Check your progesterone levels which should be normalized. Progesterone’s role in the health of the body’s connective tissue or collagen is well understood. As progesterone strengthens collagen and increases the turnover of cells, the skin becomes softer and stronger. 70% of the skin is collagen, as is 20% of the entire body- tendon, ligament, blood vessels, skin, cornea, cartilage, bone, blood, blood vessels, gut, intervertebral disc, brown and white adipose tissue. https://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/hereditary-alpha-tryptasemia-faq

To establish an optimal treatment regime with cannabis, you will need to balance the effects of different strains, doses, and methods of ingestion. It may be helpful to record your therapeutic relationship with cannabis on an ongoing basis. One method is through keeping a cannabis-use log that captures your experience, including thoughts, feeling and behaviors. Periodically reviewing the log can help both you and your doctor make decisions about what works best.
When your cannaoil or cannabutter is done infusing, remove any plant matter by carefully straining it through cheesecloth (available in the cooking section of stores like Target or Walmart) or a coffee filter. Pour your infusion into a container and you’re done! Be sure to put your cannabutter in the fridge to harden, but cannaoils are fine to store on the counter. The most important thing is to keep it in an airtight container (mason jars work great) in a cool, dark space.

I have read about studies from Europe (not very specific I know) that suggest CBD might work better for some people if combined with some level of THC. Also, the getting high part can be helpful, although not for everybody, of course. A second point – I don’t hear very much about CBD eliminating or almost eliminating pain for people with severe pain. Helpful, but, so far at least, it doesn’t seem that CBDs can replace opioids or substantially reduce pain for all chronic pain patients. Maybe someday.
My question is specifically regarding CBD interactions with the endocannabinoid or limbic system and a mention made in your post regarding homeostasis. In April of this year I got a tube of "high CBD" oil which was foul tasting and made me gag. It did not sit well and my digestion went off. The company said that there was nothing wrong but by the end of the month I was in trouble. I stopped taking CBD and basically had an emotional breakdown. I went to a therapist to find out how and why I had basically lost homeostasis – precisely how I summarized my condition.
Hi Ben. I am pretty sensitive to all meds, meaning if the directions say take two pills I usually start with 1 as many times the effects are way more powerful to me. With that said, how do you know how much to dose per person? Isn’t everyone’s body chemistry different? Also know you are not a doctor, but what have you heard about taking cbd along with blood pressure meds?
In the United States, approximately 70 million people suffer from insomnia, insufficient sleep or another sleep disorder. CBD extracts have been mistakenly described as sedating, but I haven’t found that to be the case with my own use and neither has research. Although it’s true that if you take a bunch of CBD (I’ve found 30mg+ of a good, absorbable CBD will do it for me) you will fall asleep like a baby, in modest doses, CBD is mildly alerting, and simply provides a calm, relaxed focus.
Interestingly, the connection between CBD and inflammation can be highlighted using professional sports as an example. From MMA fighters to NBA basketball players, cannabis use is widespread among hard charging professional and a growing number of recreational athletes, specifically for shutting down the extreme amounts of joint inflammation and pain from constantly pounding the mat or the court and for helping the body relax and sleep at night after a day of stress combined with hard and heavy training. Many NFL athletes are now experimenting with cannabis extracts to manage post-head injury symptoms and to reduce the chronic mid and post-career aches and pains.
Kind of like cannabis, humans have been cultivating turmeric for a long time – over 4,000 years. The Ayurvedic medicinal herb was originally used as a medicinal herb in Southeast Asia, where turmeric also carries significant religious significance. Turmeric was a highly sought after commodity in the ancient spice trades that swept across China and Africa, all before the end of the 9th century.
Most medicinals will have a strength listed in Mg (milligrams) but we’ve found it to be hard to compare with so many different product sizes and the number is usually the total for the container. Price usually goes up with the number of Mg per ounce of product. Some contain just CBD and others THC & CBD. We think that somewhere in 100-500 Mg of CBD/THC per ounce of product is a good range. Some give more but generally charge more too. Hope that helps!
In the early 1990’s, rehabilitation facilities did indeed experience a significant surge of patients who were “addicted” to cannabis. But a survey done at that time noted that nearly all of them had come from the court system, where judges gave convicted criminals the choice between entering into treatment for addiction or entering prison, which was probably a pretty simple choice for most.
I am having some major issues with major anxiety and major depression that seems to be treatment resistant. I am currently on 75mg of Zoloft, 12.5mg of Seroquel for sleep, 5 to 10 mg of Valium a day and several vitamins as well. I have tried a number of different anti depressants. Nothing seems to be helping much. Out of desperation I have been exploring other options. My question is can I use the oil with all these other meds. Clearly I can’t just stop them but am hoping if I could get the anxiety and depression under control then I could wear off the pharma meds. If you can’t answer this question could you direct me to someone who could. Thanks!!’
The first step is to decarboxylate your flower. Ideally, do not grind it but rather break it up into popcorn sized nugs, but it is fine to use shake or ground bud as well. Throw your cannabis right in your decarboxylator (putting it in silicon or a shot glass if you’re using kief/concentrates) and let it run its cycle while you gather your ingredients.

Because CBD oil products are mostly unregulated, there’s no guarantee that any given product contains a safe or effective level of CBD. In fact, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2017 found that nearly 70 percent of all CBD products sold online are incorrectly labeled, and could cause serious harm to consumers. Some CBD oils may also contain incorrectly labeled amounts of THC and other compounds.
A standard dose of a CBD-rich oil begins at 10 mg – or 1ml (depending on the equivalency). However, it’s also possible to microdose at 2.5 to 5 milligrams daily. For more severe conditions, a much higher dose may be needed – and some patients are known to go up to 1 gram per day. However, a daily gram of cannabis oil is a very large amount and the attention of a cannabis-savvy doctor is always best.
Cannabis oil is the newest sensation in the cannabis community, thanks to the smoke-free alternatives it provides users in the form of topicals, edibles, and vape oil. One benefit to this rise in popular smoke-free alternatives is the fact that it’s discreet – even if you are on the road you don’t need to worry about finding a 420 Friendly hotel (though it doesn’t hurt if you do).
You will need about an ounce of high quality cannabis to make the oil to treat skin cancer. With this amount of starting material you should get 3 to 4 grams of high grade cannabis oil. You will apply the oil directly to the skin cancer and cover it with a clean bandage. RE-apply fresh cannabis oil every 1 or 2 days as well as a new bandage. Continue treatment until the cancer is gone. Once the cancer is gone continue to treat the same area where the cancer was for about two weeks just as if the cancer was still present.  Doing this helps ensure that all the cancer cells die. If you've had skin cancer for a longer period of time, it may take a longer time to cure. In most skin cancer cases, the cancer disappears in less than three weeks. In extreme cases it could take longer. Just continue the  treatment until the cancer gone. The speed of healing all depends on your own rate of healing and how deep the cancer is. Below is a video that I made from pictures I received showing Basal Cell Carcinoma being completely eradicated in just 35 days using only cannabis oil.
The only other potential side effect is the fact that CBD inhibits liver enzymes from metabolizing most of the drugs humans take. So, for example, if you’re taking a heart medication, introducing CBD into your system can prevent your body from using the heart medication properly. That can lead to other serious problems, so be sure to discuss any potential conflicts with your doctor before taking CBD or discontinuing any medication in favor of CBD.

A common misconception we hear is “cannabinoids from hemp are not as good as cannabinoids from cannabis.” This statement is arguably confusing; hemp is cannabis, just like all the other strains that fall under the cannabis species. They variations of cannabinoids they can contain are endless — you never know what they have until the oil is extracted and tested. Our properly sourced hemp oil is rich in their proprietary cannabinoid blend and is 3rd party lab tested to verify cannabinoid potency and to check for any contaminants.

We use this special blend because we believe it’s important to have a combination of the various natural plant compounds, for a full-spectrum product. A common term for this is the “entourage effect,” which refers to a proposed synergistic effect between the different cannabinoids and terpenoids in hemp. Similar products may be touted as cannabis oil, but the accurate name for products like Tasty Hemp Oil is hemp oil due to its origin and lack of psychoactive effects. Our oil is derived from domestic hemp, which naturally contains less than 1% of the psychoactive compound. Tasty Drops are legal in all 50 states according to the 2018 Farm Bill.
The first time I came across CBD was when I was visiting my brother in San Antonio, Texas 2 years back. The one day I had some serious back pain, My brother's neighbour suggested that I should try CBD oil for my pain as it helps his mom with her cancer pain, and directed me to SABotanicals, a local CBD store in San Antonio where I bought a 2000mg CBD oil.In the beginning, I was a sceptic, but it worked so well that I ordered three more bottles to last me for a few months. I must say that also felt relaxed but could do my work with no issues as it didn't make me high.To date, I'm still using CBD oil for my paid and came off pain medications completely.God gave us something great!
