I have/had ovarian/primary peritoneal cancer. I used thc/cbd oil pills I self made from the start. I am supposedly their “poster child”. I went thru with chemo and surgery. Oh that horror! But when I tried to tell two seperate doctors, the surgeon was all about it, and my oncologist threw a fit and said it was an anecdote. There are more than 100 studies at the NIH govt website.
I am currently going through red skin syndrome/topical steroid withdrawal. The only cure as of now is time(6 months to 3 years) and waiting out horrible eczema-like flares. My main issue is burning/tingling skin that is almost constant. Steroids close off blood vessels and when you stop them they 'wake' up causing this nerve discomfort/pain. I've been smoking medical cannabis for the duration of my recovery(1.5 years) and It's done wonders except that the flare is around my mouth and I'm afraid the smoking is causing more issues.. as well as helping. I need to step up my game and take a different approach. I am wondering how to go about using cbd but I don't know where to start and was wondering if you could help. Thank you
However, switching to CBD oil from a conventional medication is far from a random stab in the dark. In fact, there was a large scale (and very well-documented) survey carried out less than two years ago that looked at precisely what percentage of patients were able to “swap” their side effect-inducing meds for a 100% natural, cannabis-based therapy.
Stephanie, generally, I have patients take 20 to 150mg a day for sleep +/- anxiety. Start low and go slow. Know the dosages of your product. Usually 2/3 to 3/4 of the daily dose is 1-2 hours before bedtime, and the other portion is upon waking (to improve wakefulness during the day). Other factors such as stress, hormone replacement, other meds & medical conditions, etc. play a role along with individual differences. I own a compounding pharmacy, so we see a lot of unique needs. I can't give more specific advice in this forum, but there is help!
Excellent comprehensive article on CBD Oil. I was injured in 2 auto accidents in 2 years when hit from behind twice while stopped. As a result, I have been on Opioids since 2000. Luckily, I am not addicted and am able to take them only when in severe pain. I have Oxycodone & Morphine 3X per day. I have Osteoarthritis in my knees that is very painful, and in my spine , neck, jaw, hands – it’s everywhere. I also have Fibromyalgia. I had Neck surgery – Fusions on 3 cervical discs because I was unable to hold my head up. The surgery helped, but I still have neck pain. I am a grandmother and I have to say Cannabis is a Miracle Drug. I only take a tiny bit in a pipe and it works immediately. I am able to get by on only a third of my Opioids – 1 Oxycodone & 1 Morphine daily when smoking Cannabis. I have CBD oil too. I have been wanting to try a different kind and now know what to try for better efficacy. CBD helps, but I need the THC. Cannabis is truly a miracle drug in all forms. I just hope it will be legal where I live soon. Thanks again for your in depth CBD article.
Yes!!! I am recommending it after trying it myself to my patients with Autism. The topical is my favorite because can put on the bottoms of their feet or up their backs and can start with just a small amount to be sure they tolerate it well. Then can go up. Once they have used the topical, then go to the oil. We are starting slowly with 1-2 drops then working up. Have 2 kids on it, both are 4 years old and so far so good! Parents are happy they are sleeping through the night!
Elixinol has a wide range of products, but their CBD Tincture does the trick. It’s the cream of the crop regarding CBD oils and that reflects in its price. One dropper (1mg) from the 300 series contains 10mg of CBD. This allows you to get precise amounts of CBD and no guess work is required. Elixinol has received numerous awards for their products and extraction process.
Did you get an answer for this? I have the exact same scenario. I'm treating my TN with Tegretol, and recently tried CBD. I think I took too much and there are some weird drug interactions with Tegretol and I felt quite stoned....was alone and talking to myself in my head thinking I was Einstein. It freaked me out a bit but I think I took too much. I'm trying lower doses again as recently my TN seems to be resisting the meds, although I have had a lot of emotional stress, which seems to be a trigger. Thanks!! Anna
